Sand is not simple. Every grain is a fragment of something that was once larger — ancient rock, prehistoric shell, coral, bone — worn down by millennia of water, wind, and time until it becomes something else entirely. Something finer. Something that moves with the tide, holds the warmth of the sun, and carries the memory of everything it once was.

The Sand Collection X Lake Tahoe is a textural meditation on those ancient beaches — an ode to time, erosion, memory, and quiet resilience. This is an invitation to remember the Earth as a sanctuary — to reconnect with slowness, subtlety, and the sacred beauty where sand meets stone.

The Erosion is the most ancient piece in this collection — and possibly in the entire shop.

This piece holds the answer to the question the whole Sand Collection is asking: where does sand come from? It comes from this. Ancient stone, prehistoric creature, fossilized bone, traded beads — eroded by water, worn by wind, reduced by time into something smaller, finer, more beautiful than what it was before. Every material in this piece is the process of erosion made visible.

A note on the materials in this piece.

The materials selected for The Erosion are among the rarest and most significant used in this entire body of work — sourced with great care and considerable investment. This is not a list of decorative accents. This is a record of deep time.

Fossilized Stegodon stone beads — remnants of a prehistoric relative of the elephant that walked this earth millions of years before Lake Tahoe existed as we know it. The Stegodon is now extinct. These beads are among the only physical traces that remain. Stone embodies grounding, enduring strength and stability, offering protection, balance, and a deep connection to the earth's ancient wisdom. To hold this piece is to hold something that existed before recorded time.

Old annular wound Dogon beads — among the most sought-after ancient trade beads in the world, prized by the Dogon people of Mali — one of humanity's most remarkable civilizations, known for their profound metaphysical system and their extraordinary ancient astronomical knowledge. The Dogon called these beads "Ashara" — once worn only by chiefs and dignitaries as symbols of spiritual authority. These beads have moved through hands of ceremony across centuries.

Ancient Mali quartz stone beads — excavated from Mali, West Africa, over 2,000 years old, bow-drilled by hand by ancient artisans whose names we will never know. Quartz is widely regarded as the most powerful healing and energy amplifying stone in the mineral kingdom — absorbing, storing, releasing, and regulating energy, and amplifying the metaphysical properties of every material surrounding it. Inside copper conduit rings, ancient Mali quartz is working at extraordinary power.

Old vintage white Nigerian agate — extraordinarily rare, increasingly difficult to source, and acquired at significant investment. White agate is revered for its spiritual cleansing properties — bringing purity, calm clarity, and the ability to clear stagnant energy from both the body and the space it inhabits. The vintage quality of these beads means they carry decades of additional energetic history. Finding them is rare. Using them here is an honor.
